Senior Club Squad
'Senior Club Squad' (White Hats and black when competing). Swim Skills / Training to Compete (LTAD) LTAD Training / Compete / Technique / Fitness / Social.
The club understands that not all swimmers wish to compete or wish to dedicate large amounts of time and effort to swimming.
These squads are based around those swimmers who still wish to train for Competition/Technique/Fitness and the Social aspect of Club swimming, however cannot attain the criteria of the Junior Performance, County Performance or Regional/National Performance Squads due to other commitments in other sports or education or feel they do not wish to commit this amount of time to their swimming.
Swimmers in this squad are still expected to train for progression in their Technique, Fitness and Speed. Where space is available Club swimmers will swim in separate lanes to their equivalent Performance Squad, however if space is not available Club swimmers will integrate in lanes with Performance swimmers according to their ability, determined by the Coach.
ALL swimmers in these squads are considered for ALL club competition events either as individuals or to represent the club in team events, if you wish to participate.
This squad is to offer structure, support and opportunities to further develop a swimmers drive to become the best they can be.
There are no criteria or targets for this squad. It is designed as a technique and fitness based programme.
In Senior Club, swimmers can actively participate within competitions, including all strokes and distances.
The swimmers are also selected for all club team competitions if they qualify.
PLEASE NOTE - The correct squad hat should be worn, not just a coloured one. All squad hats can be purchased from the Club Desk on a Monday night or from Caroline Trestrail.

- Focus on Aerobic Development
- Technical skills and drills for all 5 strokes.
- Interval based training, pace swims, builds, negative split swims descending sets basic swimming speeds, pacing and over distance swims.
At any point a swimmer can apply to go into the County Performance or Regional/National Performance Squads depending on their commitment, progression and development. Please talk to one of the coaches if you are thinking about taking your swimming to the next level.
